Hi Roy,
Well done for organising another fantastic event. We've all
enjoyed it despite all the annoying bureaucracy. In the end
it's about the company you're in and no matter what any
bureaucrat tries to stop, the company is always good in
Pathfinder.
You're really lucky I had already gone when this TA major
incident happened. Offended because we dress up like soldiers?
That's a bit rich for someone who offends the entire British
army by pretending to be a soldier on Tuesday nights and every
odd weekend. It's allways the fat ones who winge about it, the
commitment-phobe military fantasising hobbyists. If he had
gone regular he wouldn't have had these insecurity issues.

Hi Roy,
Thanks for a good week; mission accomplished I think, a
couple of jumps in the week, the anniversary jump onto Renkum
on the Friday and the march to the bridge Sunday. The last
time I stood on that bridge was nearly 30 years ago, I was in
my mid twenties then and sporting a; 2nd Battalion, the
Parachute Regiment sweat shirt. I have waited that same length
of time to jump into Arnhem and quite honestly, thought that
opportunity would never come my way.
I left slightly earlier on the Monday morning than I had
originally planned, and just as well really, because Schiphol
was not running to its best, my bags turning up at home last
night some 30 hours after me! Anyway, my early departure meant
that I didn't want to disturb hung-over sleep, so there were
fewer good-byes than would seem appropriate under the
circumstances. So my thanks and appreciation go out to all the
normal suspects; Ian, Lance, your good-self and to all those
that took part in the event, from where ever they may have
come. Nice one!!
I am looking forward to some good photos turning up and
perhaps a DVD again. My camera was suspiciously absent, so I
am relying on others to have taken some good shots.
Keep in touch and we'll catch up again next year I 'm sure.

Dear
all
I
would like to thank you all for a fantastic week, I don’t
normally mention names but I partially like to thank Lance, Roy,
Paddy, Dennis, and Jock of course for the support that the gave
me and the rest of the team.
I
know I came away injured, and It is my own fault, Roy
was right my PLF’s were Sh…..t, I know it now as
the bottom of my right foot is black, my knee is not much
better, still it only hurts when I laugh !!!! Poor old George is
in pain with his back.
For
those of you that are jumping at
Arnhem
in September hope you have better luck than George and I,
Roy
.
Please can you book one of the courses at the end of April
beginning of May 2012 for Darren, Roy Nelson, myself and John
Druso who had the car accident before we came out to
Holland
, I will be practicing my PLF’s
Once
again thank you, and the rest of the 5th Dutch Para course 2011

G'day Roy,
Firstly, it was an experience of a lifetime and I thank you and
the other instructors for a great week. All of us from
Battle4Europe and Ians guys from JustOrdinaryMen were really
impressed by the thorough training and attention to detail. It
made us as confident as we could be, being novices and having
all the emotions attached to our first few jumps...no
shit...there we were...we thought we were gonna die!.
Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

I
am thrilled to report that under the leadership of Col Justin
Fogarty (Honorary Colonel 33 Signals Regiment), and through the
capable instruction and guidance (and patience) of the
Pathfinder cadre; all 14 of the Canadians in Operation Wolfpack
were successful in achieving Pathfinder Proficiency and Dutch
Military Para wings. More importantly, a significant amount of
funds were raised (now close to $50,000.00) in support of
military families through your generous support and sponsorship.
I
hope to personally thank you at our first opportunity and regale
you with Operation Wolfpack war stories. Do check out the
website http://33sigs.org/operation-wolfpack.php
where you can see videos of us in uniform and actually jumping,
testimonials and some insight into our training. The fear on my
face is real! In the meantime, please accept my heartfelt thanks
for your generosity in supporting our cause. Airborne!!

Greetings Roy,
Thank you for this very kind
email. We proudly placed it on our web site a few minutes ago
under the Operation Wolfpack heading.
We are all wearing a
permagrin , chest out, very proud of the B Wings and so
grateful for the experience that you and the entire Pathfinder
team gave us...from the instruction, which had an amazing
balance of discipline and humour ( you guys have Monty Python
beat) , to the rush/experience of going out that cargo door ,
to the ultimate feeling of that "float"back to
earth, to those ultimate/incredibly soft landings ( none of us
have a single sore spot ...well, just the whole body
actually), and to that tremendous camaraderie after the jumps,
in the bar and over some great dinners.
I know that Justin forwarded
you some video links which I have again attached below. We
wanted you to know that you can place them on your website
anytime . I am working on a few more headcam videos over the
next few days and will forward them to you as well.
Thank you again for the
experience of a lifetime.

Roy - "I have finally stopped shouting at you" -
thank you so much for making me feel welcome from our first
email and throughout the course. J2 - I can't thank you enough
for your patience with teaching me how to fly. Ian - thank you
so much for all the f %$%# fun and for taking such good care
to get us off your plane in one piece. Lance - I never
mentioned how grateful I was for your final check. Nothing
more reassuring than that tap on the helmet. Herve - thank you
for making sure my chute was flaked all right and for the
TShirts. Thanks to everyone else as well. So much fun together
with the dinners, the celebrations, and the comradarie on top
of it all, made it an incredible experience and one I will
never forget.
Thanks for the invitation back. I may take you up on that. :
). In the meantime, I will sort out some pics to send and see
if I can put some words to paper as well. Note on the foot cam
video - that is my second jump where I had absolutely
convinced myself that my chute was not going to open. You can
see the fear. Still... out I go!
Please pass this on to the rest of the team and make sure J2
gets my email address so we keep in touch for his trip to

I wear my Dutch and Pathfinder wings proudly Roy. Thank you so
much!

Hi

hope you are well.
I
just wanted to say a huge thanks to you, Lance and Jason as well
as Eric, Herve, Mark etc etc for the course and all you did for

more eventful that anticipated but overall we have come away
having had an amazing time.
It
may sound slightly crazy but we both are keen to finish off the
course and do two more jumps so as to get the Dutch wings (but
maybe the AN2 is a no-go!) … would we be able to return and
finish the course in Aug or Sept? If so what dates is the
course running and are spaces available?
Look
forward to hearing from you.

Hi Roy,
Where do I begin, a mere Thank-You
just doesn't seem to capture the spirit of our week in
Holland. You, Lance and Ian exemplified all that I had
expected of Pathfinder ! The training was superb and the
atmosphere was instantly welcoming, a relief having traveled
from Canada to join you all.
Our course, mostly strangers to
each other representing individuals from 8 nations, became a
close knit group within what seemed to be minutes! The
camaraderie was akin to our military days, and as such, will
surely last a lifetime. I for one am indebted to you all for
affording me the opportunity to gain my Pathfinder Bronze, and
Dutch Military Wings. I know I will always be a "craphat"
but I sure feel a part of the Airborne community now !

I have to say that the team was as friendly and outgoing as
anyone could ever want. I was very happy to meet all of them and
finally you. I'm proud to be a member and enjoyed the week, rain
and wind were just part of the show. Luckily, Barry drove Art,
Dave, and me around Arnhem, Oosterbeek, and other areas
including the museum on a rain day so while I did not get to map
out everything at the north end of the Bridge, I saw quite a lot
and all of us enjoyed a great lunch together. What a wonderful
group of people to bunk with for the week. Pathfinder is a great
team. I think my injury will restrict me to jumping Normandy
once next June and that will be it. On the other hand I am more
than happy to help out on the ground or brainstorming with you
on issues related to the team. Can't ask for a better way to
close out an airborne career.

Hello Roy,
first of all I would like

members which were present at 13 and 14 September on TEUGE
airbase.
I really appreciated
the way we were received by all of you and the help which was
brought to us at each moment, even when staff members
where very busy .
We never had a bad
answer or a bad reaction from anyone.
I want you to thank for
me: Lance, Ian, Ean the
rigger ( pronunciation and writing ?) and Simon.
(For Hervé, I will do it myself by E-mailing
him in French...;-) )
And special thanks to you
for guiding us at any time during this two days, and
especially for resolving our administrative and technical
"problems".
It was not always easy
because of my bad English...but we did it... ;-)
I really appreciated a lot
the friendly spirit and the good general ambience.
Your way to work is very
professional and military; what is indispensable and necessary
for security in parachute jumping; but it always happens
in a good mood and with suppleness.
I really hope to spend some
more time with you all and to jump with you as soon as
possible.
Best regard's and

Hello Roy,
Some weeks ago you ask me a commentary on the course I
attended in order to insert it in the web site. Here are,
simply expressed, my feeling...
" This course fully met my hopes: jump to discover
another side of the third dimension and be trained as well as
accustomed to some technical aspects (chute packing, jump
with different planes in different position). Moreover, I
particularly enjoyed the human dimension (high
professionalism of the instructors and jumpmaster without any
excess of self confidence toward the trainees , relax
atmosphere during lunches, beer calls or waiting phases under too windy
conditions, meeting with lot of different people) that also
makes you keep good souvenirs from such a course. Thanks
to God, the weather was ok and Antonov was available.
I only can recommend to follow this course and regret not
to have time enough to take part to other activities of Pathfinder
Europe.
Thanks again to the whole organising and training staff
".

Hi
I just wanted to say thanks for a great week, jumping in on my
40th Anniversary of my first jump onto an Arnhem DZ
was absolutely great, I wont for get that. I didn't get to
many parachuting pictures this year but these from the first

By the way I hear she’s booked her place for Normandy but

I cant thank you and Lance and Ian enough for giving me the
opportunity to jump at Normandy, it had been an ambition of
mine i thought was gone forever until I found Pathfinder
group, I'm now jumping again with a great bunch of piss taking
laugh a minute former paras, just like old times, and I've now
jumped not once, but twice from a Dakota over Normandy so
dreams do come true. I just have to dream about winning the
euro millions now lol.
I have spoken to mum and dad and they are determined to be at
Normandy next year, they are over the moon with what
Pathfinder do, and for letting me jump as well. Discussing the
prop blast of a Dak with my dad was something i never thought
possible, and weird really, awesome.
Thanks again for a very special and overwhelming experience

We arrived okay and were met at airport in Portugal. Then it
was off to barracks with the Portuguese military. It was a
great experience and we had a had a fantastic time. We
were treated like very special people and the Military went
out of the thier way to make us feel welcome. We could not
have asked for more from them. A 'Well done' to all
Pathfinder personnel on the course and for showing the
professionalism that you all have acquire.
A very special thanks to Paulo for his hospitality and
showing myself Herve and Big Stu the sites of Portugal on
Friday evening after Endex. We then visited the Portuguese
Association of Paras. There we were made very welcome and were
given copious amounts of the local brew. We were
also given wings and tee shirts by there members. It was a
great honour to have been invited to visit them. I only hope
that some day we can repay this in some way to them.
well done to all and well done Roy for this arranging this

To all.
In spite of all
the commotion we managed to have a good time during the week
prior to 9/19.
This was due to
the good company and the Heineken Brouwerijen.
Congratulations to those who still had to get their wings
and managed to get their 5 jumps in on
Thursday and Friday.
My jump at the
Ginkle Heath was the easiest one so far ending with a very
soft landing thanks to
great skills, no
doubt, but somewhat assisted by the
thick 1 foot high heather which presented a cushion. I made
a nice PLF roll just to satisfy the audience of a family of
four who had wandered on to the DZ. One of their daughters
took a picture and promised to send it to me via a-mail. I
hope she does as it'll probably be the only one to prove to
my wife that I did it.
Participating in
the commemoration of Market Garden was an emotional one for
me as I still have vivid memories of those days in 1944. The
ceremony at the cemetery had some moments during which I had
to wear my dark glasses to hide my emotion. I remember
when we as little kids were laying flowers on the graves and
I was surprised to see that so many soldiers had the same
name : "unknown."
I feel honored
being a member of Pathfinder and I enjoyed the company
of so many good buddies.
I am not as
quick anymore as I would like to be and I want to thank
those who offered assistance:
Austin for
arranging lodging, , Henry for being my navigator,
Bernard and Nick for helping me with my bag, Eric who
offered to stand down in case I got bumped off the Ginkle
jump.
Last but
foremost ( that an oxymoron ?) our fearless leader Roy Mobs
:
Thanks for
all your work, humor, perseverance, patience and
lending me the "Garment ."

Airborne qualified
I don't mean in to boast in anyway, I just want to share this.
Before 65/65 Normandy with the idea of jumping from a Dakota
during the Market Garden week
I joined Pathfinder UK and spent the past week with them to
earn my Dutch Military B wings. Mission Completed, I hope to
be able to jump onto one of the British DZ's this coming
september to pay my respects to the Vets.
In brief, I completed 6 jumps in 3 days..my 5th and qualifying
jump from a AN-2 Colt was a 6 man stick that on video was as
watertight as a frogs ass.
Roy Mobsby, Ian Marshall and Lance Owens from Pathifinder UK
and all former Parachute Regiment were outstanding in every
respect and I recommend anyone interested in jumping military
round canopy to contact them.
I will be adding more jumps to my log book as September nears.

Guys....thanks
for the week and allowing me to feel a very small piece
of what Para does. For us it was fun, I know it wasn't
fun for those
actually serving. I look forward to seeing you when
you're in Holland for the courses and adding jumps to
my log book and I offer my services as a ground-based (for
now) cameraman when I am available for the courses.
As I rode away from Schoonoord, trapped inside my motorcycle
helmet, I tried to put in simple words what is was
like for me and maybe the others before me and those to
come. I thought that if I had to sum it all up very
concisely I would say.. the deeper the angst, the higher the
euphoria. on my first drop, climbing out to altitiude
felt like a million years and the entire jump
thousandths of a second the climb out on drop 6 felt like
thousands of years and the jump a 10th of a second.
so the gap closes and the elation grows and I seriously
thought that 2000 feet wasn't high enough, go figure.
thanks again for sharing and for what all the airborne
forces do,

All,
You remember that I missed last day during our course.
Just to let you know that I got to Teuge this week on
Wednesday afternoon and was allowed to join the course, got 3
jumps from Cessna till 16.00 and
at the end of the day experienced one of the best moments in
my whole life: we’ve jumped from Antonow AN-2 in a stick of
6 jumpers (with Floor as number 3 and Roy as number 6). So
you can see that we were not offered an opportunity to think
on our way to AN-2 exit – we just had to go ;););)
I
was reading Peter’s AN-2 jump description again and again
and now I could not agree with it more.
I
have attached a picture with
Roy
telling jokes about Poles. Whereas those were very funny I was
repeating the drill in my mind at that time (that is the
official version – for those who jumped before: I am trying
hard not to shit my pants) ;););)
It was a great 2 days in Teuge.
Hope
to meet you all again,

It looks like that every time I'm coming back to Teuge it's
better than the previous time.
I have to make a big compliment to Roy, Ian and Lance.
Because they make from
people who have never met each other before, a very tight
family or is it even more
than that.....
Looking forward to see you all again and keep in touch.

I enjoyed my 'refresher' at Teuge, thanks for your help etc.
With the help of a CRS escort most of the way from Paris I made
it to Normandy on Friday evening. I met up with Didier (who
managed to get into 3 Paras camp and an invitation to the
Rodney's cocktail party dressed in shorts and floppy hat). I
also met Bob Ellis at Les Trois Planeurs at Pegasus Bridge.
Cheers, see you in Oosterbeek.

Hi Roy,
Hope you got back to the UK all right. Thanks for
the great week in Teuge! It was wonderful and I met
some very nice people. I enjoyed it.
I would like to put my name down for a jump in
Arnhem, but wasn't sure if that's all right since I
just qualified this week. Please let me know if it's
ok and I'll pay for it. Are there any trees on the
DZ's in Arnhem? If not, could you plant a few for
me? Hate to miss the comforting sound and feeling of
branches whipping me on the last 30 feet down. :-)
Take care and best whishes,

Thanks
a lot Roy – I enjoyed the course very much and will
spread the good word around – hopefully you'll get more
crazy Poles on your courses ;) and we'll be able to jump in

It was great to see people being turned from null experience to
parachute jumpers in couple days.

Thanks for a great week, I think Pete Dahl put it
together very well in the history page.
Regards to Roy and Lance, thanks for making a dream come
true
A special thanks to Ian,
You worked your bollocks off, making sure we got the five in
MATE!!, although I did think of other choice words for you
after you put me out no 5 on the first jump, especially
when I was looking down on the hangers Planes runway and
various other buildings including car parks trees etc and
seeing the D.Z dissapearing in the distance. Allowing me over
two minutes to think of how the f--k Iwas going to get out of
this and how many limbs I would probably break depending on
what I was going to land on.
So from Roy and Ian Taylor
'OH' the choice word Roy ( F-----g

See you in Arnham

you was missed by all of us in pathfinder.
I was able to complete the last two jumps I still had left

Hi Roy, just got back today from Holland, want to write to
express my sincere gratitude for all your efforts getting us
there, my group made it to Texel ok, we met up with the boys
on the course and with Ian Marshall, what a lunatic. I have
never had so much fun in my life, both Bill ( he's 84 and did
a sky dive whilst he was there!!) and Phil were treated like
royalty by all concerned and had a wonderful experience, lance
and Ian could not do enough for them , they even got a
ride in a Dakota when the boys jumped. Brord,
Willem and Monique were the most lovely of people towards us
all whilst we were in their company at Arnhem and could
do nothing more than they did to make us more welcome.
Once again, great respects to you and the lads in your superb
organisation ,happy landings

Dear
Roy,
I
received bad news yesterday. It turns out that I have been
walking around with a fractured lumbar vertebra and won't be
able to jump. As you are very familiar with vertebrae: its the
L2.
I
hurt my back on the 4th jump. ( not the 3rd when
I ran into the ground downwind ). It was extremely
painful when it happened ( Frank may have heard me moan) but
fortunately I could do the last jump the next day. Initially I
didn't think too much of it but as it still bothers me more
than 2 months later I had an orthopaedic doctor look at it
yesterday. The X-ray revealed that the second lumbar vertebra
was compressed and fractured and it seems that a tiny piece
had come off. Today I am having a CT done of the Lumbar area
to see where that missing chip went.
Roy
I cannot tell you how sorry I am that I cannot be jumping
with you guys anymore, especially after I have bothered you so
much about a uniform. I am grateful that I had the chance to
do the course with Pathfinder and for a week be part of this
wonderful group. I apologize for screwing up.The best I
can do is keeping up my membership. I will follow your
activities in your news letters and I hope that the big jump
next year will take place. If so I will make an effort
to come to the LZ to watch you jump , wear my wings on my jean
jacket and join you all for a couple of Heinekens.
Thanks
for everything.

Via this letter i want to thank you again for this
unique posibility i was givin by your orgainsation to fly with
the Dakota.
It was an fantastic expiriance in it's own way, but it
made very special to fly so low and so long over groesbeek
territory.
This expiriance has made me realize more the exstrodinairy
way these paratroopers came into action. This reaction came from
many local civilians, who witnessed the Airborne drop preformed
last sunday. That's way it is worthwhile to make these flights
and jumps. If it would be possible..................Continue
with this event.

Hello Lads,

Thankyou to you all! Roy/Brord/Nick/Ron/Peter/Willem for
all your hard work and time in Organising and for
teaching us parachuting and giving us the opportunity to
earn our parachute wings with you and making this event a
Great and Enjoyable experence at Texel/Arnhem and for
the warm welcome Martin and myself had all week into
the Pathfindergroup by yourselfs all and all the
other members in the group !!
I cant wait till next year to come back and do it all again!!,
im sorry to say im hooked!! on the monday the 23rd after the
weekend at home and getting back to keeping both
feet on the ground i could'nt stop looking at the clear
blue cloudless sky wishing we were all back up there
again! Been telling all the lads in the group back home about
my experences at Texel/Arnhem and all the fun times at
night in the De-Kivit getting to know,as well as jumping
with all the members in the pathfindergroup and
especially jumping out of the old lady herself at
ginkel heath and walking back from the DZ as fast as
i could to the RV Point, talking to the veterans along the way
which i had the pleasure to met some of them the
afternoon before at the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek seeing
there Smiles and there pats on the back for keeping the
airborne botherhood alive!! and for sharing
my experence with them which i just had at the airfield
the tension before boarding the plane hearing the dak
starting up taxing on to the runway getting airborne
and approaching the DZ going throught the drill (stand
up/hook up/check equipment/sound of equipment check 15ok 14 ok
--- 1ok port stick ok/ action stations/ Go Go Go!!) and
jumping out from the Dakota at ginkel looking at the
surrounding area on the DZ and landing with PLF was
Absolutely Priceless , it realy brought home to me even
more what these Brave Lads went through 63 years before aswell
as being shot at in the sky ,even before they had a chance to
get on the ground with nine days of hell in front of
them!!
Iv have been going through and looking at photos from both of
our cameras which we had taken all week at texel/arnhem and
the film footage of the jump at Drill which i will be sending
to Nick for the web site!! asap

Just to report in that your 2
wandering members (Jason Lennox & self ) have returned
safe and sound from Texel and got 5 square jumps in from the
Caravan between 3,500 and 5,000ft.. Jason is now the
proud possessor of his Dutch wings.
We also did as our 6th jump ,
level 1 of the AFF as an upgrade to the course so we are well
pleased with that...and hooked!!
Can I thank you for your help in
the coordination of the event and can you pass a BIG thank you
to Ron for meeting us on day 1 and assisting us with the admin
etc and also for seeing us off on the last day and assisting us
in drinking some fine Dutch beer
Hotel de Kievet was a very good
choice and we were well looked after by Derek and staff.

Just a quick note to let you

It was really nice to meet the lads
they made us very welcome. The weather was against us, as we

Many thanks for making me a member
of The Pathfinder
Group, and compliments for the quick way of working in your organisation,
especially Brord
and Nick, and the others whose
names I don't know ,
I hope I was not the
person with the bad exit during the Arnhem
Drop, but it should be great when the C-47
comes to Texel in 2007, so
we can do some extra exit exercises.
I also had a little smile on my face when the Dutch Military
put there first stick in the trees, I was in the 2nd stick
first Dak, and just on the
ground, and saw the F60 coming
in , so I had first class view on it.
It was a perfect day,
one of the best of my life, jumping out a C-47
Dakota, who can wish for more, thanks to the Pathfinder
Group. I am born in Ede
and I hear the stories about Arnhem
since I was a child, I had to jump on the Ginkle
Heath, and I did it to thank the British Para's.
I hope we can jump soon, next year, same weather, blue sky and
soft landings

Arnhem 2006
To
all members of Pathfinder, Paratroopers, Drop zone crew, Jump
masters, Pilots, etc., It was a privilege and an honour to
have jumped with you on that historic day. When in the future
someone ask me with whom I jumped, I will answer:
with very special ordinary men.
Thank
you for being among you and see you all in the next event
I
waited for this moment for over 25 years. My father took me,
when i was 12 years old, to the movie "A Bridge To
Far" from that day i wanted to jump at
Arnhem.........Well, I finally did. During the Texel week and
the Arnhem jump i met some wonderful people from South
Africa/Ireland/USA/Holland/Maastricht/ext whereby the
atmosphere and Airborne spirit was great. To jump out of a Dakota
with 30 other Para's in two sticks gave me the feeling of what
the veterans did in ww2.To stand up and hook up, count off,
stand in the door.......Go. is something i will never forget.
And to land on the original dropzone made for me the day
complete.
I want to thank the Pathfinder staff, transportation from Col
Rupert prince, Cooks, ext.
And to you all paratroopers........it was an honour to have
jumped with you.

This is just a short
messaged to say that i had a wonderful time jumping at
Texel. The weather was good, sometimes heavy winds on the drop zone,
but overall good jump weather. The organizers Brord and Ron were
really good in there work and could not have been better.
But the tings it made the week a week to remember was, the group
i jumped with. They all were from different backgrounds,
age and rank, but they all were wonderful ordinary men and we
all worked from the start as a group who felt as if we knew each
other for years. We all helped each other with the jumps
and were a team from the start. To all jumpers in jump week,
thank you for a good time and thank you for jumping with all of
you. I definitely will see you all again in September and
Arnhem. But we stay in contact via email.

Since many years, I had a dream, an
inaccessible objective: that of living and feeling the same
emotions, the same sensations as those thousands of
parachutists felt, all those who left all they had to come and
render our freedom that was taken away from us. Initially with
the assistance of Hubert, we could make truth this dream by
getting access to the information to be part of the courses at
Texel, then thanks to the patience and with the obliging ness
of the staff, we had in reach of touch what had always been so
distant; and finally in Arnhem, the apotheosis celebrated on
the DZ after the jump of the Dakota will remain engraved
forever in my memory. There will be certainly other jumps but
that one was the first of all. I whish to thank you for
allowing me to take part in this memorable event, still
inaccessible 6 months ago.
Thank you all, Hubert, Brord, Nick,
Terence, Ron, Hervé, Frank and all another those who made
this possible. I will never

It's
a shame you were unable to make it to Texel mate as it was excellent.
The

Hello Roy,
I hope you are well mate, I imagine
you have already had reports about Texel and Arnhem by now. I
just want to add my thanks to you, even in your absence we
knew you were instrumental in its organisation. I had a great
time, I arrived at Texel for a refresher jump, but the course
had completed their 5 rounds and Ron and Brord were happy with
my drills, so I just made a square jump as the winds were a
little high.
Arnhem was absolutely superb, no
wind! so a vertical landing was a new experience for me,
massive crowds on the heath and obviously a few beers at the
bar afterwards, all in all a fantastic week, I picked up the
atmosphere when I arrived at Texel, the lads who had been on
the course had built up such a team spirit especially the
Irish and the South African gangs, really everything that
Pathfinder stands for!
Thanks again Roy,
you were missed, See you next year mate.

Pathfinder events next year.

I agree with Terence, I had a very
nice week at Texel. In total 43 jumps were made by Pathfinder
and unfortunately we had 2 injuries. The group itself was great
and everyone worked together. Even 2 HAHO jumps have been made
to try out an idea for a new jump event. We also met an ex DDR
parachute regiment Colonel with already 105 jumps in his logbook
and a French army Major of the French Parachute regiment's field
ambulance with 50 jumps already made. The French Major spend
more time with us than with his own group and we were presented
with his unit's own champagne after he earned his Dutch wings.

Maastricht
/ Fort Eben Emael Tour - Brief Review
from Austin
:This proved to be a great weekend put together by Brord and
Ron.
At 40.00 Euro (32.00 Stg) it was exceptionally good value for
what we got. It included the tours, bus transport, taxis, tea,
coffee, sandwiches, an all you can eat Chinese meal and even a
few beers thrown in for good measure. Brord certainly made the
pennies go a long way. The tours were impressive, particularly
the tour of the fortress of Eban Emael. All the guides knew
their stuff and gave the tours in both Dutch and English. I was
also fortunate enough to get to see the American Cemetery at
Margraten and if any of you find yourselves in this part of
Holland I would advise you to take the time to visit this

All in all this Pathfinder event was well worth taking the time
to attend and I would highly recommend it to everyone for next
year. If you had thought about going this year and didn't, you
really missed out.
10 out of 10 to Pathinder NL for organising this event, as for
me I've already booked my return ticket!

I cracked it
and got my 5 jumps in after all and qualified and so I feel
a million dollars! It was a great week and what a
great bunch of people. We bonded quickly and very well and
were lucky to have such a good group

Because we finished the course
early we managed to fit in a trip to the Airborne Forces museum
at Arnhem. I would
highly recommend the course
to anyone who was interested. A good time was had by
all. We hope to fit in the Estonian
course next time around.

Arnhem
anniversary jump.1999
I should like to express my thanks
to all that made this jump possible. Unfortunately
too many to name. Being the 55th Anniversary, it was an
occasion that can never be repeated in quite the same way.

I have never met a group of people
so sincere, kind, genuine, and professional (when they had to
be) . I would trust anyone of you to pack my chute.
Thanks for the staff for training us well. Apart from a
huge bruise on my tushy and
a new desire to jump out of perfectly good airplanes,
im in perfect working
order. See you next year in Normandy. Don't
bother hiding, I'll find you.

A big thank you must go to everyone
present. The team out there all pulled together, human
kindness, generosity and above all else, sheer professionalism
ruled the day. It was a team effort and those present
would agree the operation was a success. all the best.

Pathfinder
group, without knowing it have just achieved the most powerful
piece of intervention youth work I have ever witnessed in my
11 years of running youth programs.
This is a relationship that is going to run and that no nonsense
mental attitude that is so prevalent
in British Airborne Forces is now firmly entrenched in the
youth service. goodbye PC,Hello Airborne, Its Green On!
