Sgt Mobsby exits over South Cerney airfield              Practise jump

Until recently serving as a Sergeant in the armed forces of the United Kingdom, Roy Mobsby welcomes those interested in the adventure of military parachuting to join Pathfinder. For those qualified jumpers, Roy invites them to join him on military-style jump tours as part of the internationally known Pathfinder Parachute Group (UK) of which he serves as the Operations Coordinator.

Roy is well qualified for this role having served in the famed British Parachute Regiment, being awarded Air Despatch Wings whilst serving with 47 Air Despatch sqn RCT, which require completing some forty different types of cargo drops. He completed the All Arms Commando course and was awarded his Green Beret and Commando dagger.
He has also seen action in  Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Bosnia, and Iraq and as part of an Air Despatch team attached to "D" Squadron, 22 SAS (Britain's Special Air Service) in the Oman
As a military parachutist he has made jumps with military forces in a wide variety of  environments, from the Arctic Circle to America. He has qualified as a military jumper with the armed forces of Denmark, Holland, Estonian SOG, Germany, Former Czech Republic and the United States.

While serving in his current role as Operations Coordinator the Pathfinder Group has participated in such jumps as the Arnhem commemorative drop for the 50th, 55th,and 60th anniversaries. More recently the Pathfinder Group participated in the Year 2004 D-Day Anniversary jump into Normandy from the same type of aircraft used on the World War 2.This was then followed by multiple Dakota jumps onto Ginkle Heath for the 60th Anniversary commemorative display and the icing on the cake was the opportunity for him to jump as No1 onto the DZ that should have been used in 1944 alongside the John Frost bridge. 28 jumpers successfully completed this jump without injury and may have proved that with hindsight the battle may have ended very differently.
