John ‘Tim’ Timothy 

This book tells the unique wartime story of John ‘Tim’ Timothy winner of 3 Military Crosses.

He served in the Parachute Regiment with distinction joining when No. 1 Parachute Brigade was established in 1941. He fought in the Bruneval Raid, as well as airborne operations in North Africa, Italy and Arnhem where he was taken prisoner. He subsequently escaped from Oflag VIIB in Bavaria and met up with American Forces. He was also the first British Para to get American jump wings.

The book (65 pages A4 size) sets out his remarkable wartime journey through his personal accounts corroborated by 3rd party sources (e.g. witness accounts, citations, battalion war diary extracts).It is illustrated with photos from the IWM and Airborne Forces collections.

This book was produced for the regimental archive and is not being commercially published at present. However, a limited number of copies are available to Pathfinder or PRA members who are interested. Cost £10 + P&P.

John “Tim” Timothy was one of the longer serving officers of the Parachute Regiment in World War II. He served the regiment with distinction and took part in the Bruneval Raid, as well as airborne operations in North Africa, Italy and Arnhem where he was taken prisoner. He subsequently escaped from Oflag VIIB in Bavaria and met up with American Forces.

He displayed great qualities of leadership, endurance and courage which resulted in him being awarded the Military Cross on three separate occasions.
