Richard Earl Ransom

Private First Class Richard Earl Ransom, November 18,1921 - January 6, 2011. During his WW II service as an Infantryman in Europe, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Bronze Star with "V" device for valor, the Purple Heart, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Battle Stars, the WW II Victory medal and a Presidential Unit Citation.
Assigned to “K” Company, 2nd Infantry, 5th Division (Red Diamond) Dad crossed Utah Beach in Normandy and fought across France as a demolition specialist and First Scout until wounded near Metz and evacuated to England. Honourably discharged in August 1945, he returned home to resume his life.
